WHAT IS A FORKLIFT?
Forklift is a powered industrial truck used to lift and move materials in warehouses and yards. Different forklifts are made for different loading capacity and height of pallet racks. All the important information about it (like forklift types, load capacity, lift height, battery type, etc.) is located on a nameplate provided by a manufacturer.

The most important things to know when you choose a forklift are its size, lift and load capacity, and configuration. Configurations include Sit Down Forklifts, Stand Up Reach, Pallet Jacks, Scissor Lifts and many others. Forklifts work on fuel (gas, diesel) or from battery. Tire composition varies depending on the main usage of it (indoor or outdoor).

Sit down forklift has a seat for a rider which faces the mast. In this position operator can see the lifting process while comfortably seated, which increases productivity.
Order pickers and task support vehicles are forklifts or lift trucks with a platform made to help you complete different tasks in warehouse.
Pallet jacks are cheap, small in size, and good for small loads. Pallet jacks are commonly used in storage facilities for easy transportation of pallets at ground level.
There is a variety of designs of pallet jacks available. One of the most popular is a rider jack. Rider jack is a pallet truck that has a small platform for an operator to stand on during the transportation, which excludes walking.
Stand up reach are the most common type of all forklift types due to its extended lift height which works good for a high rise storage racking. It is also more compact than a sit down forklift which makes this forklift for sale good for narrow aisles.
Straddle stackers have long forks to slide under the load, and additional legs for stability. This forklift type is mainly for stacking and good for work in tight areas.
Aerial platforms and scissor lifts are for lifting workers (usually one or two people) and are excellent for indoor and outdoor construction, maintenance and installation applications. Rough terrain option is for surfaces other than concrete.
Telehandlers are four-wheel drive trucks with long attachments with forks in the end for lifting pallets and other equipment.
Stand up reach and some other forklift types can operate in narrow aisles. Some of the special forklift types for very narrow aisles have a mast that can rotate to maneuver in tight areas.
